WHO IS BRAINSAREFUN FOR?

Brainsarefun is for students who need to remediate and accelerate their reading, writing, listening, speaking, information organization, study and math skills.

Brainsarefun is for parents, teachers, administrators, and others, who believe that, no matter what else is taught, all students must learn the fundamental academic skills and behaviors.

WHAT ARE THESE SKILLS AND BEHAVIORS?

The fundamental academic skills and behaviors are the same, for everyone. To survive with quality in our world everyone must learn how to read, write, listen, speak, organize information, study and do math. All successful students, all successful employees, must know how to start on time, stay on task and complete their assignments.

WHAT IS BRAINSAREFUN?

Brainsarefun is a methodology, a curriculum, a delivery system, a technology, that blends the best of what research has shown really works to teach virtually all students, regardless of age, subject being taught, skill level, intelligence or grade. It combines Direct Instruction, Core Knowledge, Precision Teaching, Positive Discipline, Reading and Study Skills, Social Skills Training and Accelerated Learning into a system of learning and instruction called "Brainsarefun."

DOES IT WORK?

Pound for pound, I can not identify any curriculum or methodology that outperforms Brainsarefun

Measured by a variety of standardized tests, 92% of 200 students tested gained 1.2 years of ability after 20 - 25 hours of instruction. At a Direct Instruction/Core Knowledge charter school I directed, the results were even more dramatic: Virtually all the Kindergartners learned to read; 50% of the kids on "learning disorder" medication were able to discontinue their use after six months (nearly 100% after one year); reading and math skills skyrocketed (as measured by the Illinois Test of Basic Skills); kids who had never had an academic success, succeeded; students commonly gained 10 percentile points on their standardized intelligence tests, and this is never supposed to happen. It is remarkable what happens when children are actually taught, even their intelligence goes up.

The evidence is in, and it is clear, every single solution presented here works. I am experienced with every one and have seen the results. I am not familiar with anything else coming close. When all of Brainsarefun's solutions are mixed appropriately it's like pouring gasoline on a flame. Stand back!

Show me one, just one, example of a site, or book, or learning theory that offers more concrete and positive solutions than Brainsarefun. I need to know about it immediately. The lives of far too many children are at stake to procrastinate.

BRAINSAREFUN HAS A FOUR TRACK CURRICULUM FOR ALL STUDENTS, ALL SUBJECTS, ALL GRADE LEVELS.

1) Honor Students are already performing in the top 20%. They already have strong skills. However, if ignored, these students may chose to believe that no one really appreciates their effort. While they are going to succeed at most schools, they often can become bored, cynical and choose poor behavior. These students must be rewarded for their good behavior and continuing effort.

2) College Prep Students are probably headed towards college. They have sufficient skills, but often don't really exhibit much focus or effort. These students must learn that by choosing appropriate behavior their skills will improve significantly. They, too, can be earning better grades and preparing themselves for continuing their educations. These are the students who tend to finish four or five years of college without achieving much direction or motivation. Their academic lives are at risk.

3) Remedial students may feel defeated, choose poor behavior, are regularly in arguments with parents and teachers. These students are often labeled with learning disorders and are in need of a lot of academic success fast. These students are at a great risk of dropping out.
